The concept is simple I needed to place the bluetooth card where it
would fit. There is lots of room in side the rugged case so the HP/Compaq
expansions can be used. So I made and extender that would stretch the CF slot to
the back of the AXIM.
Actually making the extender proved a lot easier than I have originally
expected. For the Axim end I used an old 8M CF card that I no longer used and
cut the guts out. I soldered 2 strips of ribbon cable with 25 cores each to the
connector of the CF card. The pitch of the pins is 50 mils so I cut up and old
IDE cable for the job. For the card end I cut up a PCMCIA to CF adapter and
soldered the ribbon the pins of the receptacle. A few strips of electrical tape
and the job was done.
